Float Glass

Description
  • Basic, flat glass produced by floating molten glass on a bed of molten tin.
  • It is smooth, uniform in thickness, and free from distortions.
Properties
  • Economical and widely used as a base material for other glass types.
  • Fragile and can shatter into large, sharp pieces when broken.
Applications
  • Windows, picture frames, and where low-cost, non-structural glass is needed.

Laminated glass

Description
  • Heat-treated glass that is rapidly cooled to increase its strength.
Properties
  • Up to five times stronger than float glass.
  • Breaks into small, blunt-edged pieces, reducing the risk of injury.
  • Can withstand higher impact and temperature changes.
Applications
  • Safety-critical areas like car windows, shower doors, tabletops, and architectural features.

Tempered Glass

Description
  • Composed of two or more layers of glass bonded with an interlayer, usually polyvinyl butyral (PVB).
Properties
  • High strength and safety; the interlayer holds broken pieces in place.
  • Excellent soundproofing and UV resistance.
  • Can be made bullet-resistant by adding additional layers.
Applications
  • Car windshields, skylights, facades, and areas requiring both security and clarity.

Double Glazing
Glass

Description
  • Two panes of glass separated by a spacer filled with air or gas (like argon) to improve insulation.
Properties
  • Excellent thermal insulation, reducing heat transfer and energy costs.
  • Reduces condensation on Windows.
  • Provides soundproofing benefits.
Applications
  • Residential and commercial windows in climates requiring energy efficiency and temperature control.

Tinted Glass

Description
  • Glass infused with additives during manufacturing or coated to reduce light transmission and glare.
Properties
  • Reduces heat and UV radiation.
  • Available in a variety of shades for aesthetic appeal and privacy.
  • May slightly impact visibility or color rendering indoors.
Applications
  • Windows in hot climates, car windows, and decorative features.
